The President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, and the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud, signed the agreement in the presence of the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan, Dr. Menwer Attarakih, his assistant for graduate and training affairs, Dr. Osaid Matar, engineer Yazan Al-Abbadi from CDM Smith, and representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Dr. Jihad Al-Mahamid, and a number of stakeholders.
The memorandum came from the vision of the University of Jordan, represented by the School of Engineering, to reduce the gap between learning outcomes, the labor market, and government follow-up, in response to the high royal vision of openness to modern scientific experiments, where experiences will be exchanged and trained and qualified cadres from both parties will be used with the aim of providing studies, research and training.
This agreement consists of three main components: career preparation for students, support for graduate students' research, and a practical training program for students of the College of Engineering. The preparation, preparation, and launch of initiatives for this agreement began about a year ago through holding meetings between the College of Engineering and representatives of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the American Agency for International Development (UDSID).
