“School of Engineering at The University Of Jordan” presents success stories of its students with “IAESTE”

University of Jordan News Qusai Tarawneh - The School of Engineering at the University of Jordan held an introductory lecture about the IAESTE organization and the training opportunities it offers to students outside Jordan, as the main representative of the organization in Jordan, in the presence of the Dean of the School, Dr. Menwer Attarakih.

This lecture aims to provide the opportunity to present the success stories and experiences of students who have previously obtained training opportunities with the organization, to put them in front of their colleagues and introduce them to it, and to talk in more detail about how to apply and its conditions.

The Assistant Dean of the School of Engineering for Training and Graduate Affairs, the National Secretary representing IAESTE in Jordan, Dr. Osaid Matar, provided a detailed explanation of the international organization that is linked to a hundred countries around the world, including Jordan. He explained that the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan embraces the National Committee for IAESTE, headed by the National Secretary, who A distinguished team of volunteers works with him, selected from students of the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan, indicating the existence of local committees affiliated with it at the University of Science and Technology, the Hashemite University, and Al-Hussein Technical University.

Matar added that, since the organization's founding, more than 370,000 students from all over the world have been trained, while there are currently more than 2,500 volunteers, stressing that Jordanian students enjoy a good share of the organization's training offers.

Matar said that training offers are obtained through a conference held in January of each year for the purpose of exchanging training opportunities, indicating that the next conference will be held in the Colombian city of Cartagena in the period 1/19-25/2024, during which local training offers will be exchanged with training offers. Foreign Ministry, to be announced and applications will be opened at a later time.

It is noteworthy that the tasks of IAESTE are to work on finding external training opportunities for Jordanian students in exchange for finding training opportunities for foreign students, developing plans and programs to train Jordanian university students in scientific institutions, and determining the areas of training required from abroad according to the country's needs, as it becomes possible to send a number of students annually. The School goes to some member states to spend a training period of no less than two months during the summer period. They receive a number of students from those countries who are being trained in Jordanian sectors and institutions according to a program prepared for that. Through this program, the participating students have the opportunity to interact and exchange culturally, touristically, and socially with the cultures of the countries which hosting them.
