Department Strategy


Vision

To become a nationally and regionally leading computer engineering department recognized for its outstanding computer engineering education, research for the advancement of computer engineering knowledge and profession and partnership with local industry. 

Mission

To produce graduates of computer engineering capable of designing and developing computing-based systems using the hardware skills of a computer engineer and the software skills of a computer scientist, and engaging in applied and basic research to explore and apply new knowledge for the welfare of society that contribute to the development of the information technology and computer engineering in Jordan.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1. The graduates of the computer engineering program have successful professional careers as hardware, software, and/or network engineers .
PEO2. The graduates of the computer engineering program have engaged in multidisciplinary environments and conducted their duties professionally and ethically.
PEO3. The graduates of computer engineering program have grown and enhanced their knowledge, skills and profession by pursuing further academic degrees and/or obtaining professional certification.

Student Outcomes

The Student Outcomes (SO) A graduate of the B.Sc. program in computer engineering shall understand/be able to/be knowledgeable of/ the following:

1.       an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics

2.       an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

3.       an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences

4.       an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts

5.       an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives

6.       an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions

7.       an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies
