BSc. of Aeronautical Engineering / Program Overview

  • Background to the program and subject area:

The program was established in 2024 with the aim of equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to face diverse challenges in local, regional, and global job markets in the field of Aeronautical Engineering. The Aeronautical Engineering program, comprising 177 credit hours, is primarily based on the principles of mechanical and physical engineering. The program was proposed in line with the vision of the Jordanian Aircraft Maintenance Company (JORAMCO) to serve the Jordanian aviation sector and the Royal Jordanian Air Force. The significance of this field is about safety and security, as aeronautical engineers conduct regular aircraft inspections before each flight and manage them with a qualified team of mechanics and technicians. Aeronautical Engineering is a branch of Mechanical Engineering and includes the study of aircraft structural materials, along with specialized aviation courses. The key topics covered in this major include Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures, Propulsion, Aircraft Design, and Aircraft Performance. Graduates from this specialization can work in various fields, such as the aviation industry, maintenance and repair, teaching, and airport operations.

A program graduate is expected to demonstrate effective and up-to-date technical knowledge in Aeronautical Engineering, have the ability to identify and solve engineering problems in various areas of aeronautical engineering, recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering contexts and make decisions considering the global, economic, environmental, and societal impacts of engineering solutions, and show proficiency in performing various aircraft maintenance system tasks.

  • Vision statements of the program:

To become a globally recognized program for its excellence in Aeronautical Engineering education, research, innovation, and outreach.

  • Mission statements of the program:

To provide a comprehensive Aeronautical Engineering education that enables graduates to assume active roles in proper engineering practice under various professional environments and constraints, advance the Aeronautical Engineering discipline through partnership with local and international industries and professional and academic engineering institutions, and improve the aviation industry through scientific research and outreach programs.

  • Program Aims:
  1. Excellence in Education: Delivering advanced curricula aligned with global standards to prepare graduates who can compete in both local and international job markets.
  2. Scientific Research: Encouraging students and faculty members to engage in innovative research in Aeronautical Engineering.
  3. Student Qualification: Preparing students for careers in various fields, including industrial, military, academic, and research sectors, while equipping them to adapt to the demands of these industries.
  4. Professional Ethics: Promoting ethical values and social responsibility among students.
