The University of Jordan (UJ) participated in the 2017 Arab Water Week (AWW), organized by the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUO) from 19 to 23 March, 2017, in the Dead Sea, in conjunction with World Water Day.
The Arab Water Week (AWW) comprises of a variety of events, including a number of trainings, exhibition and this year, for the first time, a competition for university students.
A student team comprised of Esra Abu Zakhm, Abdullah Al Zaben and Noor Al-Khudari, from the School of Engineering has won the 'First University Challenge MENA Region'.
The team will go on to represent the Arab universities in the second phase of the challenge which will be held in Germany from 14 to18 May, 2018, according to the director of UJ's Water, Energy and Environment Center Director (WEEC), Dr. Motasem Saidan.
The Challenge aims to give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge obtained at University to real-life situations, gain new thematic and structural insights in the water and wastewater community as well as improve their team-working skills.
The Conference was attended by over 500 Arab and international experts and specialists in the fields of water from 18 Arab countries, 15 international organizations and scientific research institutions, in addition to 360 international companies interested in sharing their expertise in the field.
