The University of Jordan and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation sign a memorandum of understanding in the fields of scientific research, training and career preparation

The President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, and the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud, signed the agreement in the presence of the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan, Dr. Menwer Attarakih, his assistant for graduate and training affairs, Dr. Osaid Matar, engineer Yazan Al-Abbadi from CDM Smith, and representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Dr. Jihad Al-Mahamid, and a number of stakeholders.

The memorandum came from the vision of the University of Jordan, represented by the School of Engineering, to reduce the gap between learning outcomes, the labor market, and government follow-up, in response to the high royal vision of openness to modern scientific experiments, where experiences will be exchanged and trained and qualified cadres from both parties will be used with the aim of providing studies, research and training.

This agreement consists of three main components: career preparation for students, support for graduate students' research, and a practical training program for students of the College of Engineering. The preparation, preparation, and launch of initiatives for this agreement began about a year ago through holding meetings between the College of Engineering and representatives of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the American Agency for International Development (UDSID).​

A student from the University Of Jordan wins the International Moon Station Award On the Lunar Energizers team

University of Jordan News - The Lunar Energizers team, which included a female student from the University of Jordan, won second place in the Moon Station 2050 competition, which was organized by the Moon Village Association, the Harbin Institution of Technology, and the Chinese Society of Astronautics.

The victory came for the team consisting of a student at the University of Jordan in the School of Engineering - majoring in mechatronics engineering, Mona Ghassan Salim, student Sumaya Me'ilish from Balqa University - majoring in energy engineering, and student Muhammad Al-Shrouf, a graduate of Balqa University in majoring in energy engineering, and under the supervision of Dr. Hanna Al-Sabat, after passing two evaluation stages. They were conducted by competition supervisors and scholars specialized in the field.

It is noteworthy that the project consists of designing an integrated energy system on the moon's surface using previously unseen ideas to provide the moon with the energy necessary to build a human colony that takes into account all lunar conditions.

The project won second place globally in the energy field of the competition, in addition to a financial prize.

​The team will give a presentation in China at the Harbin Institute of Technology to talk about their project.

Dr. Nabil Al-Kurdi from the University of Jordan –School of Architecture participates in a symposium at international teaching events at the University of Brescia, Italy.

University of Jordan News - Professor of Architecture at the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan, Dr. Nabil Al-Kurdi, participated in the International Teaching Activities organized by the Italian University of Brescia last May, by presenting a symposium entitled “The Role of Universities at Enforcing Public Participation." in Urban Design and urban Planning/The case of the University of Jordan."

 

In his participation, Al-Kurdi touched on the importance of the role of universities in contributing to local community issues, highlighting the proposal to develop Abdullah Al-Lawzi Street (Baladiya Street), for which the urban planning methods course was allocated for master's students, and which provides realistic solutions in cooperation between students, the local community, and local authorities and authorities. The municipality, in order to develop realistic solutions that are compatible with the aspirations and needs of the local community, with a focus on developing a plan to implement the best proposals with the contribution of partners and stakeholders who benefit from residents and owners of institutions located in the area, shops, and others.​
