University of Jordan Welcomes a Delegation from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln

The University of Jordan (UJ) received an academic delegation from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL), marking a significant step forward in strengthening the growing partnership between the two institutions. The visit focused on advancing the newly launched joint PhD program in Computer Engineering, expanding opportunities for faculty and student exchange, and opening broader avenues for collaborative research .

UJ President Prof. Nathir Obeidat affirmed the University’s dedication to deepening cooperation with leading American institutions, emphasizing the considerable value such partnerships bring to students and researchers. Discussions highlighted the promising progress of the joint program, which enables students to begin their studies at UJ and complete part of their academic and research work at UNL through a dual-supervision model.

Both sides underscored the importance of aligning research with societal needs and integrating artificial intelligence responsibly within academic work. The UNL delegation also praised UJ’s “Employability Readiness” course, describing it as an effective model that connects engineering education with essential professional skills.

The meeting also explored expanded mobility pathways, allowing UJ students to pursue academic or research periods in Nebraska while hosting UNL faculty in Amman for teaching, supervision, and joint project development. UJ’s European Programs team presented current Erasmus+ collaborations that complement this partnership and further strengthen students’ global readiness.

UJ and UNL reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a long-term strategic academic alliance that advances high-impact research, nurtures innovation, and expands meaningful international engagement.
