The President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, discussed today with the Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence at NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center, Dr. Omar Hatamleh, ways of joint cooperation, addressing scientific developments in the fields of artificial intelligence, and their rapid impacts on various scientific and life sectors.
The two sides touched on the vision of the future of education in light of the tremendous technological changes that may mean adopting new methodologies; such as individual learning, and ways to develop academic programs to meet the needs of the global labor market, and work to reduce the technological gap between developing and developed countries.
During the meeting, Dr. Obeidat stressed the University of Jordan's commitment to updating its curricula and academic programs to keep pace with global developments and future trends, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with international experts and scientists to enhance students' capabilities and achieve excellence in educational outcomes, with a focus on anticipating the future and shaping its features.
For his part, Dr. Hatamleh pointed out the importance of developing students' skills, including the ability to be creative, solve problems, think critically, and think innovatively, to adapt to the future, which is expected to witness tremendous developments, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and their applications.
The meeting was attended by Vice President for Scientific Schools Affairs Dr. Ashraf Abu Karaki, Vice President for Humanities Schools Affairs Dr. Nahed Omeish, Dean of the School of Engineering Dr. Menwer Attarakih, Director of the International Program, Marketing and Alumni Unit Dr. Zaid Obeidat, in addition to Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Moudar Al-Zghoul. It is worth noting that Hatamleh is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the School of Engineering at the university.
