- Background to the program
and subject area:
In collaboration with the
Mechatronics Engineering Department, the two-year M.Sc. program in Artificial
Intelligence and Robotics (AIR) was introduced in the 2022/2023 academic year
to meet the rising demand for skilled professionals in AI and Robotics. The
program aims to produce experts who leverage these technologies for societal
and business benefits and supply the public and private sectors with highly
qualified specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.
The program places emphasis
on high-quality academic courses, that capitalize on advancing computer
capabilities to equip students with the skills necessary for designing
innovative, reliable, and sustainable technical solutions to contemporary
global challenges. Intended learning outcomes encompass analyzing and
discussing fundamental concepts in AIR, critical thinking and evaluation of
tools and techniques, applying AIR methods in practical problem-solving,
producing distinguished research work, demonstrating lifelong learning skills,
and adhering to professional ethics.
The study plan requires 15
obligatory credit hours covering research methodology, two AI courses, and two
robotic courses. Additionally, students select 9 credit hours from elective
courses focusing on advanced AIR topics like Natural Language Processing,
Reinforcement Learning, and Autonomous Mobile Robots. The program concludes
with 9 credit hours dedicated to the thesis.
Graduates of the program are
prepared for various career opportunities, including roles as AI and Robotics
researchers, developers, and engineers. They can contribute to industries
deploying intelligent and autonomous systems, work in research and development,
or pursue academic positions. The program's holistic approach, covering both AI
and Robotics, ensures graduates are well-rounded professionals capable of
addressing diverse challenges in these rapidly evolving fields.
