The Water Infrastructure Construction Project team in Jordan visits the University of Jordan

University of Jordan News - A team from the University of Jordan represented by the Vice President for Scientific Schools Affairs, Dr. Ashraf Abu Karaki, the Dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Dr. Menwer Attarakih, his assistant for training and graduate affairs, Dr. Osaid Matar, and the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Rabab Al-Louzi, received the water infrastructure construction project team. In Jordan, funded by USAID and represented by Assistant Director of the Water Office, Ashley King, Project Director, Engineer Akram Al-Qahiwi, Engineer Reem Sharida, and the project team from CDM Smith, represented by Project Director, Cecile Tebiul, and Project Capacity Building Mission Director, Engineer Yazan Al-Abadi.

The project team presented details of its experience and work in the field of water systems and wastewater treatment projects, and the two parties discussed enhancing ways and frameworks of cooperation, stressing the importance of investing in students' energies, directing them towards constructive work, and developing them through training School of Engineering students and involving them in water projects implemented by the team. Second, to ensure that master's students are involved in the research and technical process in the field of water systems and wastewater treatment, in parallel with market requirements and the continuing technological development that accompanies it.

​The second team announced its intention to enhance the skills necessary for all engineering students to enter the labor market, with the aim of preparing competent graduates, equipping them, refining their personalities, and arming them with the necessary experience by providing specialized and interactive courses and lectures, and finding ways to evaluate their performance with various tools.

Abu Karaki expressed his admiration and interest in the topics discussed, recommending that the aspects of cooperation begin as soon as possible, so that an agreement can be reached to move forward with the procedures for signing the agreement between the University of Jordan, represented by the School of Engineering, and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in the near future.

It is noteworthy that this visit comes in the context of a series of valuable visits that took place previously between the School of Engineering and the team of the water infrastructure construction project in Jordan, which led to the preparation of a draft of a joint cooperation agreement with the aim of enhancing constructive participation for the benefit of the students of the University of Jordan.
