A meeting between the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan and the “Smart.Eco” project team

​University of Jordan News - Soha Al-Subaihi - Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan, Dr. Menwer Attarakih, met today with the “Smart.Eco" project team from the University of Jordan and partner universities, which is considered one of the pioneering projects in the field of environmental technology.

​During the meeting, which was attended by the Dean of the King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, Dr. Saleh Al-Sharayah, Attarakih welcomed the team that is participating in a workshop on the project starting today, where the latest developments related to the project were discussed and two laboratories supported by the project were prepared at the King Abdullah II School for Information Technology. The School of Engineering also discussed ways of future cooperation between the university and partner universities in the fields of research and development.

The “Smart.Eco" project, according to Al-Sharayah, is funded by the German Academic Exchange Foundation (DAAD), and aims to strengthen tripartite cooperation between universities in Jordan, Qatar, and Germany in the fields of artificial intelligence, drones, and sustainable environmental technologies.

The project includes the Chemnitz Technical University in Germany, the University of Jordan, and the Doha University of Science and Technology in Qatar, and seeks to establish a laboratory specialized in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing, and to build capabilities and competencies in this field.

According to the project coordinator at the university, Dr. Yazan Al-Zain, the three-day workshop aims to discuss implementable project proposals with the participation of many School members and researchers from the participating universities.
