"Jordanian Engineering" wins six awards in the Jordanian Engineers Association competition for graduation projects

University of Jordan News - The University of Jordan, represented by the School of Engineering, won six awards in the graduation projects competition conducted annually by the Jordanian Engineers Association in partnership with the industrial sector represented by the Jordan Chamber of Industry and the Greater Amman Municipality.

 

The Chemical Engineering Department won all the awards for chemical engineering projects at the level of the Kingdom's universities for the year 2023, in addition to the Amman Chamber of Industry award for an applied project.

 

The results were detailed as follows:

Jordanian Engineers Association Awards:

1. First prize:

    Project title: Lithium recovery from lithium-ion batteries.

    Supervisor: Dr. Ali Khalaf Al Matar

    Student engineers: Abdullah Al-Daja, Doha Irshaid, Shaima Al-Khazaleh, Sarah Al-Maharmeh, Gharam Shaaban

2. Second prize:

    Project title: Analysis and design of the high-pressure acetone manufacturing process.

    Supervisor: Dr. Menwer Attarakih

    Student engineers: Aya Omran, Safia Suleiman, Antoine Sawalha, Zaid Ibrahim, Firdous Hamed

3. Third Prize:

    Project title: Design of a sanitary landfill with biogas recovery and electricity generation.

    Supervisor: Dr. Motasem Saidan​

    Student engineers: Israa Abu Saafyan, Sajida Al-Roudhan, Dayna Muhammad Ali, Nour Al-Bustami, Bushra Akl.

 

The Civil Engineering Department at the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan won the first prize:

Project title: Bicycle showroom and training/construction project management.

Supervisor: Dr. Muhammad Hatamleh

Student engineers: Ahmed Haswa, Dana Al-Shurafa, Mahmoud Al-Rifaya, Hassan Al-Majali.

 

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan also won the third prize:

Project title: Improving the processes of storing and retrieving goods in logistics warehouses

Supervisor: Dr. Mohammad Al-Shbool

Student engineers: Aya Haddad, Lynn Sakkajha, Maya Zreikat, Rand Hamid.

 

As for the Amman Chamber of Industry Award, the Chemical Engineering Department won:

1. First prize:

    Project title: Production of sulfur-coated urea.

    Supervisor: Dr. Linda Al-Hmoud.

    Student engineers: Manar Al-Khalili, Sarah Hazin, Haneen Abbas, Joanna Malak, Aseel Al-Akhras.

 

With this distinguished achievement that reflects the leadership of the School of Engineering, the School congratulates its students and the creativity of its professors.
