The School of Engineering was the first college of engineering which was founded by a Royal Decree in 1974 and is one of the largest schools at the University of Jordan with a number of students close to 6,000 attracted from the top high school students in Jordan. These students are guided by more than 167 faculty members, 73 supporting staff and more than 68 teaching and research laboratories. The admission to the school is highly competitive where about 30 percent of the applicants to the programs are accepted. The language of the instruction is mainly English and the programs limit the size of incoming classes in accordance with capacity constraints. The students of the school of engineering are active in community services where students driven activities provide multiple interactions with school administration, provide team work experience and leadership opportunities. In 2016, about 40 percent of the students enrolled in the school of engineering are women where these opportunities for women sets the school of engineering apart as a leader.

The undergraduate students are distributed among eight academic departments which include: Architecture Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. There are 17 graduate programs distributed among these eight programs to serve local, regional and global research needs.
To maintain our high level of teaching quality, the School of Engineering adopts a dynamic strategic planning to meet the set goals of quality assurance of its programs through ABET accreditation policy. In October 2016, three B.Sc. engineering programs (Chemical, Electrical & Mechanical engineering) were accredited by ABET Engineering Accreditation committee (http://www.abet.org) and the other programs (Civil Engineering,Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering) have recently attained accreditation from(ABET), and this accreditation is effective until 2022.
This is because we have already achieved remarkable success in education and research and we intend to maintain and build on it.
In addition to this, the School of Engineering houses many research and industrial units such as the Industry Outreach Unit, KADDB Research Laboratories, School For Factories, and Industrial Partnership Council.
