Welcome to the first University, and the first Department of Architecture Engineering in Jordan, which is one of the leading architectural departments in the region, in which the Royal Decree for the establishment of the Department in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology which was issued on 29th December 1974, being the ninth faculty in the university. Teaching at the Architecture Department started in the academic year 1975/1976.
The study plan of the B.Sc. in architecture is composed of 178 credit hours requiring five years of study for completion the degree. Practical training in the summer, not less than 8 weeks, is also required. The first group to graduate in 1980 numbered 13 students. The number of graduates increased yearly to reach 111 by the end of the academic year 2019- 2020.
Our goal is to educate future architects, and designers of the built environment, how to be innovative and imaginative, but respectful of the history and cultures.
Our department seeks to inspire you with a lifelong interest in your chosen field that will sustain you throughout your studies and career.
Emphasis in the curriculum is given to Architectural Design, which is the major course in the study of architecture. Study of the local environment, users' behavior, and associated technical as well as humanity subjects are also included. The final graduation projects of students are chosen from actual local schemes mainly from the National Development Plan of Jordan.
