The industrial engineering department is one of the leading departments that have a strong ethos of multidisciplinary collaborations and are successful in developing more productive strategies and transferring technologies from a sector to another. Since it was established in 1986, it has graduated more than 3100 well-qualified industrial engineers. As a result of its continuous achievements, the industrial engineering BSc program has received ABET accreditation. In addition to the BSc program, the IE department has developed three different but synergizing master programs; namely, Engineering Management, Maintenance Engineering and Quality Management, and Design and Manufacturing. Such programs are developed to effectively prepare students for taking-up management responsibilities and leading roles in manufacturing and service industries.  

 What is Industrial Engineering?

Industrial engineering is a broad professional discipline concerned with designing, implementing and controlling efficient and effective production systems that produce both services and/or physical products. It is concerned with combining and integrating all resources to achieve the production objectives with the best way of resources utilization. Basic production resources include: manpower, machines and systems, materials and supplies, money and capitals, and management and information.

Department Programs:

In addition to the undergraduate program, the following three master programs are offerd: (1) M. Sc. in Industrial engineering/Engineering Management, (2) M. Sc. in Industrial engineering/Design and Manufacturing, and (3) M. Sc. in Maintenance Engineering and Quality Management. Such programs are developed to effectively prepare students for taking-up management responsibilities and leading roles in manufacturing and service industries.
