As part of its strategic vision to integrate artificial intelligence into the educational process, the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan (UJ), represented by the Department of Architecture, hosted a specialised lecture titled: “How BIM and AI Are Automating Construction Compliance”.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Mayouf, Associate Professor of Built Environment at Birmingham City University (BCU), United Kingdom, who discussed how Building Information Modelling (BIM) and AI technologies are transforming regulatory compliance in the construction industry.
Mayouf emphasised the pivotal role of digital tools in streamlining the verification of architectural designs against building codes and standards, explaining how automation can significantly reduce human error, improve performance efficiency, and accelerate the approval process within construction workflows.
The session featured a detailed demonstration of cutting-edge software tools used in the industry, including Revit, Navisworks, Synchro, and CostX. Mayouf also shared real-world case studies showcasing how digital integration can enhance construction quality, reduce costs, save time, and minimise material waste.
The lecture shed light on emerging trends shaping the future of the construction sector, offering students and faculty valuable insights into the digital transformation of the built environment, aligning technological innovation with sustainable and compliant design practices.
Mayouf, who holds a PhD from BCU in performance enhancement through BIM, is widely recognised for his contributions to academic research at both national and international levels. He is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research that explores the intersection of social and technical dimensions in architectural design and construction.
This event is part of an ongoing series of academic activities hosted by the School, reaffirming its commitment to delivering cutting-edge engineering education that bridges theory and practice.
