The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was established in the School of Engineering in 2006 after being a program under the Electrical Engineering Department. The department offers a B.Sc. degree in mechatronics engineering with an approximate graduation rate of 70 students per year. The department employs eight full-time Ph.D.-holding faculty members in addition to seven engineers with M.Sc. or B.Sc. degrees. Additionally, the department has offered scholarships for five candidates to obtain their Ph.D. degrees from the US, UK and Canada. Those scholars are expected to join the department as full-time faculty members within the next two years.
