The University of Jordan concludes discussions with a Korean delegation regarding establishing an academy to train Jordanian engineers

University of Jordan News Soha Al-Subaihi - The mission of Korean experts affiliated with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) today concluded its visit program to the University Of Jordan for the purposes of preparing evaluation studies and the executive plan for the proposed project submitted by the university, which is the establishment of a Korean academy for qualification and training. Jordanian engineers at the School of Engineering, in a final meeting with the University President, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, and his deputies.

 

During the current and past two weeks, the delegation visited the School of Engineering, the King Abdullah II Information Technology School, the Water, Energy and Environment Center, the Engineering and Central Bidding Departments, and the University Library, in addition to the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center, during which it was briefed on the mechanism of work of these bodies, their facilities, and the services and programs they provide. And the regulations and instructions that govern it.

 

During the meeting, which took place in the presence of the deans of the School of Engineering and King Abdullah School of Information Technology and the project coordinators, the Korean team presented the initial expert report related to the project, which included their findings in the project feasibility evaluation study and the initial implementation plan, including the proposed steps to complete the project during the period 2025-2029. , its expected results, the budget and the proposed locations of the project on the university campus.

 

During the meeting, Obeidat stressed the importance of the project for the university and Jordan, given its ability to enhance the university's efforts directed at reducing the gap between academia and industry, and developing graduates' practical skills in areas that require focusing on the skills and competencies needed by the labor market, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, and renewable energy, pointing out The university is ready to provide what is necessary for this project to see the light.

 

For her part, the project coordinator at the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) office in Jordan, on behalf of the Korean team, expressed her thanks to the university for everything it provided during the visit, noting the team's conviction of the importance and necessity of the project and the university's suitability for it, stressing that the agency's team will make every effort. To make this project a reality.

 

The proposed project, “Korean Institute for Engineering Training," seeks to benefit from Korean expertise and technology in the field of training newly graduated engineers, and to provide them with the necessary competencies and knowledge in emerging engineering fields, with the aim of reducing the gap between academia and industry, reducing unemployment rates resulting from weak skills, and raising opportunities. Employment opportunities inside and outside Jordan, thus contributing to sustainable development efforts in Jordan.​
